Google's own scientists turn on top management for funding Inhofe, Kochs

An open letter from Google's Science Fellows to Eric Schmidt and Larry Page:

Climate change is a grave moral challenge that cannot be addressed without smart government policy, corporate innovation, and public participation. Leaders and citizens must collaborate in ways that transcend differences, and call out those who impede progress by denying the reality of the problem.

Recently, Google Inc. failed in this duty by hosting a July 11, 2013 fund-raiser in support of Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe’s re-election campaign. The political gridlock that has derailed efforts to address climate change in the US owes much to Senator Inhofe. His denial of the problem and fact-free assaults on the scientific community are designed to promote political dysfunction, to destroy the reputation of scientists, and to undermine our ability to find common ground.

Such strategies conflict with Google’s successful evidence-based, problem-solving culture, and are arguably contrary to its corporate philosophy of “Don’t Be Evil.”

And they completely own the media. We, the people, are the new Indians.

ANYONE can be "remorseful", "sorry", "failed to live up to our 'values'".... but the truth is always this - these apologetic individuals thought they'd never get caught and in that moment of hubris they indulged their secret desires and deepest core values.

Riley Cooper? Sorry now? Yeah...but where was that when he was making an ass of himself in front of cameras and the world?
Bill Clinton? Sorry for THAT WOMAN?
Anthony Weiner? Well...bad example, I don't think he gets it enough to even fake real remorse...

I view this the same way I viewed the question, "If you could sleep with someone other than your spouse, anyone at all and be guaranteed that they would NEVER find out or nothing bad would happen because of it, would you do it?" My answer has been the same every single day since I said "I do" nearly 20 years ago - "No, because I would know."

Not for one minute do I think this was a case of ignorance....stupidity? sure, ignorance, no way...

They knew exactly what they were doing.

Silicon Valley churns out a lot of innovation, but many tech entrepreneurs possess a greedy Ayn Rand ethos.

A fucking pro-Keystone lobbying group. Yeah, Jeff, as long as it makes you money, then it's all good, right?
