The times they are a-changin'
I'm involved in a largish initiative to extend marine communications and radar capabilities into the Canadian NWP and points north. I had a project meeting today with the contractors who have been retained to perform a radar study for the initiative. The talk turned to how high-Arctic vessel traffic might change in the coming decades. Then an executive from a major gummint-connected multinational blew my mind. He said, "Of course, we can't really say anything for sure - after all, there are a lot of people who are now saying that the whole global system may collapse in short order, given the skyrocketing methane releases that are being reported from East Siberia."
When I regained the ability to speak, I asked him a couple of further questions, and it became obvious that he was indeed one of those people. So I uncloaked some of my views, and we exchanged that universally recognized Doomer head-nod. Now I know why PIOMAS and the Arctic death-spiral graphs appeared in their original study proposal.
Colour me amazed.
