Colorado governor to tout air pollution rules

DENVER — Colorado's governor is taking a victory lap to celebrate adoption of new air-quality controls on the oil and gas industry.

The rules mark a major compromise between environmentalists and large energy producers. Gov. John Hickenlooper plans to tout the compromise Tuesday afternoon.

The rules include the nation's first statewide limits on methane emissions from the oil and gas industry. The rules also call for infrared cameras to detect air pollution at oil and gas sites.

The administration first announced the rules in November. They were adopted after four days of public testimony.
