Question about green solutions for space&water heating and industrial manufacturing

We talk a lot about the path to renewable energy for electricity. And we have a myriad of proposals for the future of transportation. But we don't hear as much about the future of the energy economy for the other two sectors.

What are some of the top proposals--or hypothetical solutions--for establishing a carbon-free future in space and water heating and industrial manufacturing?

diy might be the only way to go here.
i have a plan to put a bunch of old radiators on my roof, with some mirrors and some pumps, it should sure preheat for on demand hot water, at the least. told that i couldnt assist my hot water heat, to which i say bullshit.

Amory Lovins once described the way that designers will only design efficiency measures out to some artificial limit of cost recovery but, if challenged to go further can actually realize savings that are astonishing.

They grow bananas indoors at his passively heated Rocky Mountain Institute.
