Trump freezes all Venezuelan government assets in US
Associated Press
Tue 6 Aug 2019 03.13 BST Last modified on Tue 6 Aug 2019 03.55 BST
The Trump administration has frozen all Venezuelan government assets in a significant escalation of tensions with socialist leader Nicolás Maduro. It places Washingtons trade relations with the South American country on a par with Cuba, Syria, Iran and North Korea.
The ban on Americans doing business with Venezuelas government takes effect immediately.
All property and interests in property of the Government of Venezuela that are in the United States ... are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in, the executive order says.
The order, signed by President Trump on Monday, cited Maduros continued usurpation of power and human rights abuses by those loyal to him.
While the order falls short of an outright trade embargo, it represents the most determined US action to remove Maduro since the Trump administration recognised opposition leader Juan Guaidó as Venezuelas rightful leader in January. As such, it places Venezuela on par with adversaries such as Cuba, Syria, Iran and North Korea, who have also come under strident US measures.

Bolton warns foreigners that violate Venezuela asset freeze
By JOSHUA GOODMAN and DEB RIECHMANN
August 6, 2019
WASHINGTON (AP) U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton pressed his case Tuesday for sweeping action against Venezuelas President Nicolás Maduro, warning foreign governments and companies that they could face American retaliation if they continue to do business with his socialist administration.
Boltons comments came after the White House on Monday night froze all Venezuelan government assets in the U.S., putting the country on a short list of U.S. adversaries, including Cuba, North Korea, Syria and Iran that have been targeted by such aggressive financial measures.
Now, Venezuela is part of this very exclusive club of rouge states, Bolton said at a one-day conference in Peru of more than 50 nations aligned against Maduro.
The ban blocking companies and individuals from doing business with Maduros government and its top supporters took effect immediately and is the first of its kind in the Western Hemisphere since an asset freeze against Gen. Manuel Noriegas government in Panama and a trade embargo on the Sandinista leadership in Nicaragua in the 1980s.

Pretty soon, the USA will not be doing business with any country.
The #IPOTUS and Bolton are nationalist idiots who still think that the USA is the global go-to for business. While we may be one of the world's largest economies, the game has changed and we cannot go it alone anymore - not even close.
Next "rogue" nation? China?
