NATO set to meet with Russia as world powers seek to ease tensions over Ukraine

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday members of the world's most powerful military alliance will meet with top Russian officials in Belgium to discuss ways to prevent a fresh conflict over Ukraine.

The NATO-Russia Council meeting in Brussels follows a series of high-stakes talks between Washington and Moscow, triggered in part by an aggressive buildup of Russian troops on Ukraine's borders.

"I don't think we can expect that these meetings will solve all the issues," explained NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg during a press briefing this week.

"What we are hoping for is that we can agree on a way forward, that we can agree on a series of meetings, that we can agree on a process," Stoltenberg added.

I really would like an answer. Since I don't know anything about geopolitics, but how about this.

Ukraine becomes a buffer zone. It does not join NATO and NATO doesn't put any troops in Ukraine. It is allowed defensive weapons worked out in an agreement. Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus only put token forces near their borders also worked out in an agreement. NATO does not trust Russia for good reasons, but Russia also has good reason not to trust NATO. Does anyone have a better solution to avoid a war? I will add this, the Russian-Belarus border with Russia is over 1,600 miles. Russia will not stand for a 1,600-mile border with its enemy.

If told by the committee to delete it I will. 'Life Is Such a Simple, Yet Cruel Thing' By Vladimir Putin - Family Memories of WW2 Highlight the link and right-click, go to search the web for. Click on Vladimir Putin Insider News which is part of Izvestia. How truthful the article is I don't know, but from what I have read about WWII in Russia it could have been written by millions of people.
