Netanyahu in Britain: Mideast crumbling in face of radical Islam

Prime Minister Netanyahu declares he is ready to immediately renew peace negotiations with the Palestinians without preconditions.

The Middle East is disintegrating in the face of extreme Shi'a radicalism embodied by Iran, and extreme Sunni extremism incarnated by Islamic State, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the outset of a meeting Thursday in London with British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Netanyahu said that this – and how to “roll back the tide of militant Islam both in the Middle East and North Africa” – was one of three main issues he wanted to discuss with Cameron.

The second “no less important” issue, he said, was peace.

“I want to say here, at 10 Downing, that I am ready to resume direct negotiations with the Palestinians with no conditions whatsoever to entering negotiations, and I am willing to do it immediately.”

1. Iran is no more religiously extremist than Saudi-Arabia.

Netanyahu builds up a religious boogeyman because he needs to make Iran look bad. Honestly, when was the last time Iran called for war against Sunnis or Saudi-Arabia called for war against Shias? These countries are deeply religious and ruled by an oppressive version of religion, but they pick their fights based on political criteria.

Equating Iran with the mass-murdering, pillaging, slaving warband ISIS is simply ridiculous.

The Israelis sabotaged the last round of talks by refusing to follow through on basic trust-building exercises.

No one is buying it except Bibi's fan club.
