Appointment of Israeli envoy to Brazil in trouble over his West Bank settlement ties

http://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2015/09/22/israeli-envoys-appointment-in-danger-over-settlement-ties

JERUSALEM (AP) — In a landmark test case for Israel, the appointment of its next ambassador to Brazil is suddenly in trouble due to his ties to the West Bank settlement movement.

Brazil has reportedly expressed objections to the appointment of Dani Dayan, raising questions about when or even if he will take up the post. The affair has threatened to embarrass Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who chose Dayan for the job, and reflects growing international impatience over continued Israeli settlement construction on occupied lands claimed by the Palestinians.

On the surface, the controversy has little to do with Dayan's qualifications. A successful businessman, Dayan is affable and eloquent, and being an immigrant from Argentina, familiar with Latin American issues.

But Dayan is also perhaps the world's best-known West Bank settler, serving for many years as the chairman and chief spokesman for the movement. That work, in which he defended settlements on TV screens around the world and spoke out against Palestinian independence, is now threatening to cost him his job.

Dayan is on the record as supporting permanent apartheid in the occupied territories, and of course whining when people point out that apartheid is apartheid.

Brazil is fully within its rights to reject such a loathsome, ethnic supremacist figure.

liberals didn't support apartheid in South Africa, it's wrong to support it in Israel

Note that the article references opposition to Israeli military actions, not bias against Jews.

Is pure Antisemitism.

Real liberals like President Carter know that there is no apartheid in Israel. It's nothing more that a filthy Antisemitic smear.

is an anti-Semite blah blah blah

Just like Moses was racist against Egyptians because he opposed their abuse of the Israelites.

The Israelis intend to hold onto the West Bank forever. Because according to their superstitious beliefs, God gave them the command to rule it.

But they vehemently oppose giving full legal rights to everyone living there.

That means they want apartheid.

At least you all are being honest about having apartheid as your goal, just now complaining about semantics rather than denying the obvious.

You apartheid supporters really ought to be honest with yourselves and everyone else. You support apartheid, but view it as justified.

That's your bottom line.
