http://mondoweiss.net/2015/09/israels-annexing-evidenceDanny Danon, Israels new ambassador to the United Nations, has been described by Israeli Labor Party lawmaker Erel Margalit as a right-wing extremist with the diplomatic sensitivity of a pit bull. Ambassador Danon boasted on his official Facebook page on April 27, 2011 that he was proposing legislation that would have the Israeli government annex the West Bank and repeal the Oslo Accords. The Facebook post was deleted sometime on or after August 28, 2015after Netanyahu had appointed him Israels ambassador to the UNand the link is now dead. The page, however, can still be seen via an archived Google cache.
The original Facebook status read:
I am preparing a bill to annex the West Bank and repeal the Oslo Accords in order to convince the EU to stop a UN vote on Palestinian Statehood. I am also going to suggest to extend our sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and over the highly populated blocs we have in Judea and Samaria, just to start with.
Right-wing Zionists often use the phrase Judea and Samaria to refer to the occupied West Bank.

(12,606 posts)Danon is no stranger to extreme views. In his 2012 book Israel: The Will to Prevail, he repeatedly claims that God gave the land of historic Palestine to the Jewish people as an everlasting possession. In Danons view, Israel is blessed by God, whereas the US, Israels closest ally, is forsaken.

Mondoweiss is garbage.

The funny thing is that you can't erase what that asshole wrote, and regardless if it was 4 hours or four years ago it would appear that he is still an asshole right winger: co-opting zionism while others defend it by looking the other way.
Now, I know it's not a quivering heap of parrot droppings in the form of opinion pieces, where we can cry about those evil meanies in the BDS movement, but it appears to be The truth, ober, that this Danny Danon is a fucking right wing asshole that wants to annex what is not legally Israels.
Strange how you want to defend it by pretending that it is irrelevant.
I'm not sure that Bernie would approve.
On edit: this is no different than running interference for right wing assholes in the USA.
How do you explain yourself?

(58,724 posts)Legitimate news sources have already covered this topic extensively.
Even RW sources like Times of Israel are disgusted:
Danny Danon, dismally, is the true face of Netanyahus Israel
Op-Ed: It is hard to conceive of a more short-sighted, shameful and damaging appointment than that of the Likud hawk as UN envoy. Not just for the PM, but for all of Israel

(12,606 posts)Danon is the face of corrupt, expansionist apartheid, and Israel using zionism in this way is beyond shameful.

But, that's Israel for you.
They voted for this.

(12,606 posts)If left unchecked, the term zionism will be synonymous with these assholes: power-hungry, corrupt, ethnic cleansers, 2-law system, colonizing, land thefting practitioners of apartheid.

There was a time when the notion made sense. But they blew it, and it can't be redeemed. They chose settlements over benevolent Zionism.

(1,439 posts)What do you think he's advocating here , in this quote from the TOI article? Ethnic cleansing?
While international consensus speaks of Israel retaining the major Jewish settlement blocs in the West Bank, and the rest going to a future Palestinian state, Danon hopes to gain sovereignty over the majority of the land in the West Bank, with the minimum number of Palestinians, he said.

FDR used them too.
But, we can agree to use the term "Bantustans" if you prefer, even though Danon's thetoric verges on advocating genocide.
