Video: Two prominent Israelis envision replacing Dome of the Rock with Jewish temple

http://mondoweiss.net/2015/10/prominent-israelis-replacing

“I think it’s the center of Israeli sovereignty, the capital of Israel, the holiest place for the Jewish people,” Likud lawmaker and Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said in an interview with the Knesset channel. “It’s my dream to see the Israeli flag flying on the Temple Mount."

Some have now called for Hotovely’s resignation. One Israeli leader said that she was “messianic” and threatening a holy war.

Next, there’s the video below, featuring prominent Israelis, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s minister of Agriculture, calling for the replacement of the Dome of the Rock with the third temple. The video is two years old but was linked in an article two days ago in Haaretz by Dan Caspi on the 20th anniversary of Rabin’s assassination. The piece and the video are in Hebrew. But you can see the temple’s planned outline in blue in the video; and Cantor Michael Davis sent along a summary and partial translations:

They use slick interactive graphics to imagine destroying the Muslim shrine in order to build a Jewish temple. The first speaker is Member of Knesset and Minister of Agriculture Uri Uriel. The second is Avshalom Kor who is a state radio personality – supposedly, as apolitical as you can get. The third is an archaeologist. It seems to me that, in light of the mainstreaming of the Jewish claims on the Haram el Sharif, this is very relevant right now. It used to be just a fringe group who talked about this. But Avshalom Kor is respectable. This production is slick.

It seems the whole Israeli government is full of these ideological shock troops: shooting their mouths off then denying it then claiming that their words were taken out of context.

David Duke couldn't hold a candle to these guys.

If this were any other country the USA would have voted against them at the UN...repeatedly.

I guess Times of Israel must be a hate site too?

Good thing their readership is so miniscule.

Alternate headline could be: Minister asked to resign for suggesting Israeli flag flying on the Temple Mount

Or: Mondoweiss digs up two year old video from obscure Israelis to stoke conflict

Funny how when CAMERA or MEMRI or other groups dig up hateful comments from semi-prominent Palestinians, they are dismissed out of hand (or accused of trying to unfairly paint Palestinians unfavorably).

But a Mondoweiss fan stands firm in promoting their garbage here.

Was a Jewish holy site long before Islam existed?

Disclaimer: I don't support removing the Dome of the Rock or alaksa mosque from the Jewish Temple Mount.

Jews around the world turn towards the ruins of the Temples on the Temple Mount to pray three times a day. All over the world. Every day.

Muslims face Mecca to pray, not Jerusalem or the Temple Mount.

The Jewish tribe is never going to give up their lands.

Deal.

That most people consider a hate site , in our group today.

This is the same site that trashes Democrats like they did Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton and also the Mondoweiss site has praised right wing kooks like
Anne Coulter ....

And yet someone here on this DU site , the antithesis of Mondoweiss, has posted just about every single article ... Tonight....

It may get you into trouble some day in the great wide world.

People tend not to like those who wish to censor the truth.

A two tear old story pushed by a bullshut site where the culprit was asked to resign versus just last week more than 10 COUNTRIES asking for a UNESCO vote to make the Western Wall part of al Asqa mosque compound. Which should I be more outraged about? Fucking no brainer to me. Take the kick - the more that see bullshit the better.

I see a lot of support for Israeli politicians in a roundabout way.

I see a lot if outrage that I post about these right wing Israeli assholes.

I see too much defense of the apartheid state, and I see that as bullshit.

I'll continue to keep pouring lemon juice on the collective hasbara paper cut: showing the injustice of the human rights disaster thatIsrael is today.

I certainly hope that it changes for the better, but until that time no apologies.

So be offended. I am to, but for the right reasons.
