Father of Tel Aviv terror suspect arrested

Relatives arrested on suspicion of accessory to murder as manhunt continues for Nashat Melhem, who allegedly murdered three people in a Tel Aviv terror attack; intel assessments reportedly suggest Melhem fled to northern Israel.

Hassan Shaalan

Police on Tuesday arrested the father of Nahat Melhem, suspected of carrying out the terror attack on a Tel Aviv pub on Friday that killed three and wounded several more. Five others were arrested along with Mohammed Melhem on suspicion of acting as an accessory to murder, while his mother was detained for questioning.

Meanwhile, details from the investigation emerged, suggesting that Melhem may have escaped to northern Israel.

A relative of Melhem said following the father's arrest that "the arrest will not do anything. Nashat will not care about seeing any of his relatives under arrest. . . He is an insane person. I ask the Shin Bet and police to leave the family alone and search for Nashat. We are also urging him to turn himself in."

“They threatened as if they intended to demolish our house if we don’t disclose the place where he is hiding,” she said. “I told them we do not know where he has gone.”

Police descended in large numbers Wednesday morning on an unnamed Arab town in a northern area of Israel known as the Triangle, as the manhunt for Milhem entered its sixth day.

Since the attacks, Milhem, from the northern town of Arara, has remained at large. Authorities have warned he is armed, dangerous and capable of striking again.

BTW did US authorities threaten to demolish the families home or arrest innocent family members to put pressure on the suspects to turn themselves in?

In any country .

Better believe they would of moved heaven and earth to find the San Bernadino murderers.

I believe the family of the Boston Bombers were back in their homeland .

One Boston bomber was killed and the other arrested.

He took off to Northern Israel? I thought I read that somewhere. He sounds crazy, so
why would he care about the family losing their home? I have to wonder if he committed
suicide by now too. Horrible situation.
