Swedish opposition lawmakers to call Wallström out over Palestinian incitement

Swedish opposition MPs said Tuesday evening that they would call the country’s foreign minister, Margot Wallström, to a mandatory parliamentary debate regarding incitement to violence emanating from the Palestinian Authority, as well as rising concerns over foreign aid given to the PA.They stated this during a meeting at the Swedish parliament in Stockholm initiated by MP Mikael Oscarsson of the Christian Democrats. It came at the urging of the World Zionist Organization and former MK Dov Lipman, the WZO’s director of public diplomacy in the office of the vice chairman, along with the Israel Allies Foundation and the Zionist Federation of Sweden.

Wallström has made several contentious comments about Israel in recent months, linking Islamic radicalization in Europe to the Israel-Palestinian conflict after the Paris terror attacks in November 2015, and again earlier this month, alleging that Israeli security forces have carried out extra-judicial killings of Palestinian assailants in the recent wave of violence.Seven

Swedish MPs from four parties attended the meeting. They were addressed by Itamar Marcus, director of the Palestinian Media Watch organization, who highlighted in particular recent comments made by Jibril Rajoub, deputy secretary of the Fatah Central Committee, where Rajoub expressed support and encouragement for Palestinian violence against Israelis.“I say that whoever carried out individual acts of heroism, we in the Fatah movement bless and encourage them. We consider them heroes and a crown on the head of every Palestinian,” Rajoub said on January 2 in reference to the wave of knife attacks, car rammings and other forms of terrorism carried out in recent months against Israelis. The MPs were also shown examples of incitement from other PA officials, as well as incitement from PA-controlled media and social media accounts.MP Margareta Cederfeldt (Moderate Party) said that “the incitement in the Palestinian schools is appalling and shocking,” while Oscarsson was similarly disturbed.“We must check where the funding that we send to the PA is going. We cannot support incitement to terror,” he said.“We will call Foreign Minister Wallström to the plenum and force her to answer the evidence of incitement that we just saw.”Marcus called for the Swedish parliament to sanction Rajoub for his encouragement of violence against Israeli civilians.“There have to be political ramifications to calls for murder by senior PA and Fatah officials,” he told the lawmakers.“Especially since Rajoub said that the PA is watching to see the international community’s response to its killing of Israelis, to be silent now following these statements by Rajoub is perceived by the PA as a green light to murder, and is facilitating murder,” Marcus went on. “Sweden, along with all European countries, has a moral obligation to distance itself from Rajoub in a clear and politically meaningful way, including prohibiting his entry into Sweden, as they would to any other open promoter of murder.”

The Swedish MPs are also seeking to advance a resolution raised in parliament to censure Rajoub for his comments, to ban him from Sweden until he retracts them, and to condemn the Fatah party.“The Swedish MPs literally gasped as they realized that Swedish funding was going to the PA, which is inciting terror and murder. They have been motivated to take action, and that was our number one goal,” Lipman told The Jerusalem Post following the meeting in Stockholm.“The fact that Foreign Minister Wallström will have to answer these difficult questions in a public setting is a huge diplomatic success,” he continued. “We can never allow lies and misrepresentation and facts to run wild.We must confront lies head on and continue to go anywhere, anytime to present the facts regarding the true impediments to peace.”

Mikael Oscarsson is a member of the Christian Democrats (Kristdemokraterna), which is a right-wing party that espouses "Christian" values, what ever that is. Mikael Oscarsson himself is a member of the "Word of Life" (Livets Ord) evangelical church, which is pretty extreme and has been accused of brainwashing. Very few people in Sweden, even from his own party, shares his views on most things. Oh, and he's strongly pro-life to.

The Swedish MPs met with Itamar Marcus from Palestinian Media Watch, which is a borderline hate site that puts up selected news clips from various Palestinian news outlets. The site displays serious bias about what's put up, and the goal is to make out Palestinian incitement in media worse than it actually is. He's been criticized for his biased and "research", and his expert testimony was considered crap by an Israeli court.

I'm not sure why it's news in Israel when Israeli right-wingers travel to Israel to meet Swedish right-wing MPs. I guess it's got something to do with Margot Wallström.

Anyway, here's some dirt on Itamar Marcus:

Judge dismisses credibility of Palestinian Media Watch testimony
Source: +972 Mag, September 15, 2013

An Israeli district court judge metes out scathing criticism of Palestinian Media Watch director Itamar Marcus’s expert witness testimony on incitement in Palestinian media, in a civil case against the PA and its leaders. Marcus’s testimony, Judge Dalia Gano wrote, was incomplete, biased and unworthy of the title “expert witness testimony.”

The Palestinian Authority and its leaders voiced incitement against Jews and Israel, but they are not responsible for a shooting attack that killed an Israeli. That was the ruling three weeks ago by Judge Dalia Ganot in Tel Aviv-Jaffa District Court. In her ruling, the judge gave scathing criticism of the expert witness testimony of Itamar Marcus, founder of Palestinian Media Watch, testimony which was meant to buttress the plaintiffs’ position.

About a decade ago the family of a man killed in a shooting attack, whose identity was kept confidential during the legal proceedings, filed a suit for damages against the perpetrators and against Palestinian Authority officials (including Yasser Arafat ) and the PA itself. Among other things, the plaintiffs claimed through lawyer Shoshana Glass, that the PA and its senior officials bore indirect responsibility in consequence of their policy of incitement against Jews and Israel. The defendants, represented by Attorney Yoseph Arnon, denied responsibility.

In her verdict, Judge Ganot determined that, “without any doubt, the existence of incitement against Israel and against Jews in the Palestinian media” has been proven. However, she emphasized, “the plaintiffs argue there is a deliberate policy of incitement by the Palestinian Authority, while the defendants deny it.” The judge ultimately decided that a deliberate incitement policy had not been proven.

The typical response would be to question the translation of the Arabic.

Problem is not only that PMW stands behind their translations and will show them worldwide daring anyone to challenge PA incitement, it's that the Israeli Gov't is using these same sources to make the very same point that so many want censored and buried.

The translation is legit.

PA incitement, praise, and rewarding of terror is real.

All PMW does is translate video from PA & Hamas state media.

That's it.

Mondoweiss supports Hamas terror against Jews, tries constantly to Nazify Israel with lies and slander, and uses every anti-semitic meme in the book. It's difficult distinguishing between Mondoweiss articles and those found at Stormfront and other neo-Nazi websites.
