The Israeli state has swung into action against a group of Palestinian activists who established a tent village on a rocky hillside east of Jerusalem, with hundreds of security officials carrying out an eviction under the orders of the prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to activists, a large military force surrounded the encampment at around 3am. All protesters were arrested and six were injured, said Abir Kopty.
On Saturday evening, Netanyahu demanded the Israeli supreme court overturn an injunction preventing the removal of the protesters, and ordered the area to be declared a closed military zone.

Eviction of Palestinian outpost exposes double standard on settlements
In the early hours of Sunday morning, hundreds of Israeli soldiers stormed the newly-founded Bab Al-Shams village, evicting Palestinian and international activists. The eviction took place despite an injunction by the High Court of Justice. However, Palestinians at the site were notified ahead of time that they will be removed regardless of the decision.
The Bab Al-Shams village was created only three days ago by over 250 Palestinians and internationals as a nonviolent response to Israels recent decision to build settlement units in the E1 area. According to Irene Nasser, an activist who was present at the scene last night, activists at Bab Al-Shams were arrested and later released at the Qalandiya checkpoint near Ramallah. Six Palestinians were injured during the eviction and taken to hospitals in Ramallah and Jerusalem.
The Israeli governments decision to ignore the High Court injunction and evict the Palestinians from E1 was justified by urgent security needs. However, there was no further explanation regarding said security threat. (In Israel, the term security threat can often be used as a license for any oppressive actions toward the Palestinian people.) It is probably that Prime Minister Netanyahu, who ordered the eviction, made the hasty decision due to considerations having to do with the upcoming elections, rather than with security. However, the consequences of the the Israeli government decision go beyond the action against the Palestinian community in Bab Al-Shams. Netanyahu has made a mockery of the Israeli High Court and, in turn, the rule of law.

Warning: this isn't pretty.
Here Netanyahu explains how he considers the notion of a "closed military zone" to be a loophole, allowing him to annex whatever land he wished (tho' here he's talking about annexing the entire Jordan valley).

President Dorit Beinisch [official profile] of the Supreme Court of Israel [official website, in Hebrew] on Wednesday criticized the Israeli government for ignoring an injunction against building an access road on Palestinian lands. The road would connect two West Bank settlements [CSM backgrounder] - Hayovel, a settlement that is illegal under Israeli law, and the legal Eli settlement. Beinisch ordered [Haaretz report] the government to explain why the injunction had been violated within 45 days and to justify the damage done to private property during construction. The Civil Administration of Judea and Samaria issued an injunction [JP report] against further construction in April 2009 after lawyers for Yesh Din [advocacy website], an Israeli human rights groups, brought suit alleging that paving the proposed road would cross privately owned lands and cut off the Palestinian village of Karyut from portions of surrounding farmland.

I want to say that the vid displays an awesome political {what?}
Because Netanyahu sure does display an awesome *something*.
There ain't such a word!
'cynicism' doesn't quite grasp it because 'cynicism' isn't so particular and ethnocentric.
He's saying that he's systematically lying, and that because his people (those who vote for him and support him and those in his party) know this, they will go along with it. He's saying that the rest of the world can be pushed to believe or ignore the lies to some awful self-effacing extent just because the US is so easy to manipulate and control. His reliance on Israel's control over the US is central. So he outlines his plan to systematically annex the entire west bank.
His contempt for accords that Israel has and might sign is stunning. Like, the word of Israel is *not* its bond.
What I especially didn't like was how he was teaching the child. It was creepy.
