Babies Narrowly Escape Rock Attack

On Saturday night, one Israeli driver after another fell victim to an ambush near Wadi Harmiya, near Shilo in the Binyamin region. Beginning at 1 a.m., Palestinian Authority Arab attackers waiting near the road hurled a barrage of stones at passing cars with Israeli license plates.

Among those targeted by the attackers was the Shlissel family from Ariel. Mother Ayelet was driving, while her husband sat in the passenger seat and the couple’s three young children slept in the back seat.

Ayelet Shlissel recalled the attack in an interview Sunday with Arutz Sheva.

“We passed Wadi Harmiya and suddenly I heard the boom,” she said. “My husband was hit by a rock and fell onto me.”

“After a few seconds he came to, and he checked to see that everyone was OK,” she recalled. He husband would later require hospital care.

I know the source is RW, but are you saying the incident is made up or just not newsworthy?

Sometimes not.

It's sort of a refreshing counterpoint to the incessant drip-drip-drip of how bad settlers and Israelis are. It takes two to tango and the sounds of that Argentine dance are heard loud and clear from most of the area.

Sometimes these posts are annoying because of the monomania they show. I can understand being contrarian. I'd rather that shira's contrarianicity (?) not be needed.

One service this kind of article provides is to remind people about stoning. The general attitude is that they're just throwing stones. One person throwing a stone every few seconds is annoying and only mildly dangerous. It's typically dismissed as a minor irrelevance. What's a few pebbles if there's authentic rage?

Stoning was a standard form of the death penalty. It's also an intentional dishonoring in a part of the world where honor is taken seriously--not like in the US. They kept score. And take action depending on the current tally.

One week (quite a while ago, it must be) I watched complete outrage on DU as an Iranian girl was stoned. Then in I/P I read the utter dismissal of stoning when a different target was intended. And silence when stoning of an apparently haram target led to injury or death.

I don't think throwing stones is acceptable but I do understand that oppressed people fight back and the context is important. In the last few days, Israel has announced legalizing 4 more renegade settlements, broadcasted that the IDF will be taking the "velvet gloves" off in dealing with the Palestinians and made it virtually impossible for tourists to travel to the WB. I also think that stoning a woman is through judicial fiat is different than throwing stones. The power differential for one thing.

And no, it doesn't always take two to tango- obviously. The bottom line here is the Israeli government has been and is oppressing the hell out of the Palestinians.

...then posting such incidents from Palestinian rightwing sources like Maan News would be an example of rightwing shit that demonizes settlers/israelis?

Yes/No?

We're looking for ONE STANDARD here, right?

I don't like small minded demonization from anywhere toward Israelis or Palestinians. I leave that kind of hate to you, hon. You're so good at it. small minded, petty, mean, right wing crap is your purview.

Arutz Sheva (Channel Seven) is an Israeli media network identifying with Religious Zionism. It offers online news in English, Hebrew, French, Spanish and Russian. Arutz Sheva offers free podcasts, live streaming radio, a daily email news update, streaming video and 24 hour updated text news. The Israeli government has never granted it a license to broadcast, prompting[who?] charges of government discrimination against the Religious Zionist public. 'Arutz Sheva sees itself as "the only independent national radio station in Israel" and a counterbalance to "'negative thinking' and 'post-Zionist' attitudes."[4] Based in Beit El, an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, Arutz Sheva is regarded as the voice of the Israeli settlement movement.[5]

Here's a recent Haaretz article showing how Israeli leftwing academics are shunned by the fascist rightwing BDS movement who you believe are your leftwing allies...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/113441936

Here's another recent article about a pro-Palestinian BDS activist, well regarded in leftist circles, whose writings resemble far rightwing neo-nazi StormFront material:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/113441841

Here's a fellow post-zionist of yours (Yossi Gurvitz) calling it quits with the International Left...people he eventually realized are right-wingers...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=124x361848

Even your fellow "leftists" here who you regard as your allies have problems with your views, which goes to show they cannot agree with any Israelis, as your post-zionist views are about as far left as it gets in Israel. You're fooling yourself if you think your fellow advocates here are as "leftwing" as you are. Let's put it this way: They're so far left they're actually rightwingers, and Gurvitz realized it 2 years ago. Maybe it's time you do so too.

Think they care about Palestinians? They don't give a shit. You know it. Here's an article about Palestinians in Egypt...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/113441941

There are no Jews to blame for that, so they don't care. They never did care about Palestinians because it's not about them and their human rights. Your fellow "leftists" are as vile and fascist as the most extreme rightwingers out there.

=====

And I don't appreciate being compared to rightwing freaks like the Kahanists who shot Rabin down.

=====

When you can show Arutz 7 lied about the incident in the OP, let me know. Unlike you, I believe the settlers are human. Their kids shouldn't be targets of terrorists. They shouldn't be treated like sub-humans. Tell me this: If it's okay to hate, demonize and dehumanize all settlers and their kids as you do, is it equally okay to hate, demonize and dehumanize all Palestinians and their kids who hold extreme views? I'm talking of Palestinians who are as bad or worse than the Kahanists. Just wondering...

Incidentally, what you do to the settlers when you dehumanize and demonize them leads your anti-Israel "leftist" friends (see links above exposing them) to think it's okay to hate the Jews. After all, if you're a Jew and can hate other Jews, then they too can hate Jews - even going so far as to alienate the Israeli Left (that's you) with BDS. Because you're just as Jewish as those settlers to the haters. They hate you every bit as much as they hate them. You should wake up...
