See The Prawer Plan Map Israel's Government Was Keeping Secret

Until now, nobody knew the extent of the Prawer-Begin Plan. No government official or statement has detailed how many Bedouin citizens will be displaced, how many unrecognized villages razed and how much land will be expropriated by the state.

MK Dov Khenin (Hadash) on Monday published a copy of a map distributed to members of the Knesset Interior Affairs Committee. The map was prepared by the Prime Minister’s Office for Housing Minister Uri Ariel of the Jewish Home party in an attempt to assuage his party’s fears that too much land would be given to the Bedouin.

According to a report published yesterday on +972, the new map details plans to displace some 40,000 Bedouin and for the state to expropriate 250,000 dunams (61,700 acres) of Bedouin land.

“The government hid this map from the Bedouin. The government hid this map from the Knesset,” MK Khenin wrote on his Facebook page.

Former minister Benny Begin, who was in charge of formulating the Bedouin relocation plan, claims that the Bedouin community never agreed to the current plan, in stark contradiction to previous claims by the government.

Begin made the claim in a letter, which will be presented before the Knesset's Interior Committee later Monday. Coalition chairman Yariv Levin (Likud) slammed the unwanted surprise, claiming that now, the bill must be "significantly amended."

Levin noted that it was Begin who at first claimed the bill had Bedouin support. Levin claimed that Begin said "the proposal was the only one that Bedouins, in an overwhelming majority, expressed support for. You repeatedly stressed that we should adopt your proposal, specifically the benefits, so we could secure Bedouin cooperation. You claimed the bill was formulated through a process of dialogue with Bedouins as well as a well-based desire of many in the community to solve the issue."

and the only quote I agree with :..............

Meretz Chairwoman Zahava Gal-On responded to Begin's comments on the Praver Bill, and said that "In light of Begin's remarks, I call on the prime minister to rule out the Praver Bill. It's an eviction and expropriation bill, which contradicts the values of the State and basic morality.

"Instead of inviting in an entire community of Israeli citizens, the prime minister is going to head-to-head with them, turning them into enemies," she said.

apparently, the suggestion that the Bedouin were not consulted has now been upgraded from "blood libel" to "true".

In fact, I believe that you said that:

Truth be told, it is doubtful if there is a population anywhere in the world with similar characteristics, native or nomadic, that has been awarded such a generous settlement.

I'm glad I'm not a Kahanist. I'd get whiplash from all that.

if they were going to be evicted or not. Meanwhile the extreme pro settler right were given detailed maps to put their minds at ease that the government was being too generous to the Bedouin.

Apparently, the hasbarados here see nothing racist in the plan. Says a lot about their moral calibre, frankly.

So if they thought the Bedouin accepted, how are they racist?

Even members of Likud, such as the hardliner MK Yariv Levin concede that the Bedouin reaction to the plan has been overwhelmingly negative:-

"Unfortunately, recent events indicate that the Bedouin opposition's voice is clear and discerning, while not a single Bedouin voice expressing a willingness to accept the arrangement has even been heard. ... In these circumstances ... there is no justification for giving extensive benefits because it is unclear at all whether [Bedouin] can be convinced to reach an agreement."

Ultimately, you were happy to accept Benny Begin's unevidenced assertion that 80% of Bedouin supported the plan. Bear in mind that this is the same Benny Begin that left Likud to form the Kahanist party National Union in 1999.

Frankly, he has about as much credibility to speak on behalf of Bedouin as David Duke has to speak on behalf of Jews. But it seemed to be good enough for you.

It does not count, you're part of a marginalized group..tiny, very tiny group who support
them. 972 have yet to learn how to sanitize Israeli policy.

I learned this from others here, who are spokespersons for the majority supporting
Israel, as they say, not the settlements and certainly not the occupation..noooo. lol

Well done, btw.

as part of the struggle against apartheid, so too are our hasbarado friends part of the struggle for a Palestinian state. Honest.
