Rabbis to Kerry: Cease mediation or face divine retribution

* I believe most DU members understand this group does not speak
for all Rabbis.

Rabbis calling themselves Committee to Save the Land and People of Israel write secretary of state warning that his actions were 'a declaration of war against the Creator and Ruler of the universe.

A group of rabbis warned U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to cease his pursuit of the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians or face divine retribution in a letter sent by them Sunday.

The group, calling itself "The Committee to Save the Land and People of Israel," wrote that Kerry's "incessant efforts to expropriate integral parts of our Holy Land and hand them over to Abbas’s terrorist gang, amount to a declaration of war against the Creator and Ruler of the universe!"

The group claimed that the plan, by placing them in the line of missile fire, would imperil six million Jews, adding in brackets "remember that number from somewhere?"

The letter went on to warn that if Kerry went through with his plans he would win himself "everlasting disgrace in Jewish history for bringing calamity upon the Jewish people," joining the likes of Neo-Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II and Roman emperor Titus.

I could be wrong, but I think this is the same group who expressed to Bibi
if he sold them out, he would suffer the fate of Sharon and Begin.

The letter was signed by Gedalya Axelrod, emeritus head of Haifa Rabbinic Court; Yisrael Ariel, chairman of the Temple Institute; Ben Tziyon Grossman, a rabbi in Migdal Haemek; Shalom Dov Wolpo, dean of the Institute for Complete Code of Maimonides; and Yigal Pizam, head of the Yeshiva of Kiryat Shmuel. The rabbis said they represent “hundreds of other Rabbis in Israel and around the world.”

They sure have got some quality talent on those rabbinic courts, what?

some of the rabbis who signed it are considered big names in Israel’s religious right.

Two of them were affiliated with political activists who worked with the late Meir Kahana: Rabbi Shalom Dov Wolpo, who was one of the leading rabbinical voices opposing Israel’s disengagement from Gaza and who in the past was a supporter of a political party consisting of Kahana followers, and Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, who now heads the Temple Institute and in the past ran for the Knesset as a member of Kahana’s Kach party. Other signatories are Rabbi Gedalya Axelrod, the former head of Haifa’s rabbinical court, a civil service position; Ben Tziyon Grossman, a Chabad Rabbi from Migdal Haemek; and Rabbi Yigal Pizam, also from Chabad.

And just in case the historical references provided to Kerry by these rabbis were not enough, the letter goes on to tie the expected unveiling of his new peace framework with the upcoming Jewish holiday of Purim. Kerry, not surprisingly, will play the role of Haman — the Persian vizier who hatched a plan to kill all the Jews — in the rabbis’ modern-day story of Esther. And if Kerry missed this lesson in Sunday school, the rabbis’ letter provides him with a reminder about Haman’s fate: “Tellingly, he and his sons eventually were hung on the very same gallows he had prepared for Mordechai, the Jew.”
