"In the next generation, a significant part which may even be the majority of 'US Jewry' will not be Jewish according to the Halacha, in light of the growing dimensions of intermarriage throughout the past few decades."
The person responsible for this statement was not surprised by Chelsea Clinton's marriage to the Jewish Marc Mezvinsky, or by the blooming relationship between Yair Netanyahu and the Norwegian Sandra Leikanger. Dr. Adam Ferziger an expert in the study of modern Jewish denominations, and a senior lecturer at Bar-Ilan University's Department of Jewish History led an international research group which convened in Oxford in early 2013 to study Jewish theology in the 20tyh century
According to Dr. Ferziger, plenty of books published in the United States in recent years explain why young non-Jewish girls should "get hold of a Jewish groom," as Jewish men are considered in the American public to be intelligent and gentle, non-violent and not alcoholics, make a good living for their family and find a way into the industry and liberal professions.
"There isn't one reason for assimilation," Dr. Ferziger stresses, "but one of the main reasons is that the Jews succeeded in the great project integrating into the US. They have integrated so well, that most Americans dont see being a Jew as a negative thing, but actually consider it an advantage."

(10,103 posts)If a diaspora, an attempted genocide, and generations of intermarriage haven't done the work of making Jews disappear, then the religion is not going to go extinct.

(25,699 posts)Though we're in agreement on this issue - American Jews aren't going anywhere. even if you cleave by the strictest method of determination.
I class this Ynet article as another point in the data chart of Zionism trying to scare Jews. If it's not the entirety of the goy world out to get Jews, it's Jews doing it to themselves through the scourge of miscegenation, apparently. It's not unique to zionism, by any means of course - plenty of racist, separatist philosophies make the same bullshit noise about eternal victimization and the danger of "race mixing."

(14,851 posts)As Israel IS the Jewish State and Zionism IS our national project and by mixing and mingling and merging all such articles here we see reaffirmation of this.

(89,246 posts)american jews are pretty diverse and mostly lean liberal so i don't think it will be a problem there.
take american catholics as another example. if one is going to be so strict and exclude those who believe in birth control and other things i'm sure they would be at risk of disappearing also.

In all seriousness, given humankind's ability to wreck utter annihilation, we need to move beyond this tribal thing if humanity is to survive. We can't have "our people" and "the other people" anymore, we all need to be one.
