Munich, Germany, February 6 - The chief Palestinian negotiator in talks with Israel has asked the world to punish the Jewish state for its racism, as he pursues the formation of a state next door in which Jews will not be allowed to remain.
Saeb Erekat laid into his Israeli counterpart Tzipi Livni, characterizing the government she represents as a racist regime whose intransigence has condemned the current round of negotiations to yet another failure to produce even a modest framework agreement, vowing that he and his compatriots would never change anything about their demands.
I told her in front of the whole world that we will not change our history, our religion or our civilization. We are the lawful sons of Palestine; we will not accept Israel as a Jewish state, Erekat said, according to the Maan news agency. He insisted that the world apply pressure to Israel so that the latter would abandon its claim of attachment to the same parcel of land, its religious connection, and the millennia of documented Jewish civilization there.

(16,299 posts)Canberra, Australia, February 11 Astronomers in Australia have discovered what they say is the oldest star known so far, prompting Palestinian officials to claim their ancestors inhabited that star long before any Jews came along.
Scientists mapping the southern sky identified SMSS J031300.36-670839.3, as the oldest observed star so far, based on its spectrum of color, which indicated only a tiny presence of iron. The quantity of iron in the universe increases over time as more and more stars produce it when they exhaust their hydrogen. SMSS J031300.36-670839.3 has only trace amounts of the element, indicating its senior status. Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat asserted yesterday that his family moved to SMSS J031300.36-670839.3 eons ago. SMSS J031300.36-670839.3 is located about 6,000 light years away in the Milky Way, the same galaxy as Earth.
My family was on SMSS J031300.36-670839.3 literally billions of years before there was any such thing as a Zionist, let alone a Jew, Erekat told reporters in Ramallah. We called it, uh
we called it Abu Smassa. Yeah.

(25,699 posts)Then I noticed the interview with the Swedish Chef and the article lamenting that failure to reach gold in the Olympics is a setback for israel's legitimacy.
And the Knesset Inappropriations Bill! That's some humor.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again: we have your back, Israel. If you ever want to see it again, do as I say. Theres been all sorts of talk of my administration throwing Israel under the the bus. Well, thats just nonsense. At least until we get a bigger bus.
Were right behind Israel all the way. Thats the best place to stand when Islamists and assorted other terrorists well call them militants, because who are we to judge, really? start attacking. And the position offers the best leverage for when we do eventually get that bigger bus, and the pushing has to begin.
Dont think for a minute were not hard at work driving toward a solution to the generations-old Arab-Israeli conflict. Were all for negotiations; after all, getting Israel to voluntarily destroy itself, or at least abandon its very raison detre, is much easier than forcing them to do it. Thats why my man John Kerry is tirelessly shuttling back and forth. Hes on his what, eleventh visit since taking office? The Secretary of State is the one driving the bus; its much easier for him if Israel doesnt start moving around when I chuck her under.
It would be both wrong and counterproductive to come down hard on Israel right now, despite what my fan club at The New York Times thinks. Counterproductive, because it would doom the next Democratic Presidential candidate; wrong, because our insurance policy on the bus doesnt cover this. It was all part of the Affordable Health Care Act, but something must have gone wrong in the implementation. I left that part to the bureaucrats, so I dont really know the details.
In any case, Israel can rest assured for the moment that I wont do anything to compromise their interests. That includes talking tough on Iran, praising the merits of democracy, and ignoring the fact that the man with whom I want them to sign a treaty, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, is holding office illegally and has no constitutionally valid claim to represent his constituents. Were all about democracy. And consistency.
