B'Tselem renews its call to the Israeli government to refrain from acts of vengeance for the abduction and killing of the three Israeli teens. B'Tselem cautions the security forces to avoid harming the innocent Palestinian population, or abusing the public atmosphere in Israel with the discovery of the bodies, to impose collective punishment, as was done in the past two weeks as part of the searches. The deliberate harming of an entire civilian population as punishment for the actions of individuals is both illegal and immoral. Additionally, the security forces must prepare for possible acts of revenge by settlers.

(90,061 posts)An 18-day search for three Israeli teenagers who vanished while hitchhiking in the West Bank came to a bitter end Monday in an open field, under a small pile of rocks, with the discovery of bodies presumed to be theirs.
The find, which culminated a massive military manhunt, plunged Israel into a state of collective grief and anger, prompting spontaneous candlelight vigils around the country and provoking a threat of retribution from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Saying the three had been abducted and murdered in cold blood by human animals, Netanyahu vowed, Hamas is responsible and Hamas will pay.
The Palestinian faction, regarded as a terrorist organization by Israel and the United States, has not claimed responsibility for the teens disappearance. The grim conclusion to the manhunt will add to the pressure on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to cut ties with Hamas.

I suppose the idea of an investigation and the capture/punishment of only those responsible is too much to ask.

(14,851 posts)What it is,is punishing a terrorist organization for the murder and butcher in cold blood of 3 Jewish children.

(7,784 posts)eventually they'll kill the right people? I assume members of the "terrorist organization" are clearly marked so that no innocent people are killed in cold blood, including Palestinian children?
And you didn't answer my question - why is it unreasonable to have an investigation and find those responsible? If the US could find a perp in Libya, you don't think Israel could find one in territories they are occupying?

(14,851 posts)Israel is not occupying Gaza and so it seemed futile answering a question that was deemed irrelevant as it followed inaccurate information to begin with.

(7,784 posts)argue with you, I was honestly asking why this is acceptable rather than a traditional investigation to find and arrest criminals. You have not answered that question, you seem to be okay with bombs as a response.
My point is that if Israel thought the suspects were in London, they wouldn't drop bombs, would they? Of course not, they'd work through intelligence and legal channels. So why is it okay to start dropping bombs on Palestinians? Do you honestly believe there is no collateral damage or do you not care?
And, just so you know, I find it equally disgusting that we use drones and drop bombs all over the word in our never ending search for terrorists. How many innocents have we killed?
