Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposed Monday night that Israel's response to the murder of the three teenagers in the West Bank include a wave of settlement construction and the establishment of a new settlement in memory of Eyal Yifrah, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Fraenkel, a senior Israeli official told Haaretz.

The cabinet discussed Monday the issue of construction in the settlements as retaliation for the murder of three Israeli teenagers by Hamas operatives.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon suggested building in the main blocs, Home Front Defense Minister Gilad Erdan suggested expanding construction beyond the blocs and Bayit Yehudi leader Naftali Bennett demanded both settlements construction and a military action.

Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and Finance Minister Yair Lapid objected to the idea of construction in the main blocs. Livni said that building in the blocs out of revenge will hurt its legitimacy. (Attila Somfalvi)
