Breaking: Israel shelling hospital in Beit Hanoun, injured Palestinians and internationals trapped

Over the past seven hours the Israeli military has shelled a hospital in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip where an injured international and Palestinians are trapped inside. I spoke to Swedish national Fred Ekblad briefly during a 15 minute lull in the fire. He said the hospital was struck continuously since 7:00 pm this evening.

Although Ekblad described his injury as moderate, “I’m bleeding from my head in a few places. The bleeding has almost stopped,” he does have an open wound and is not receiving proper medical care in a facility that is under heavy artillery. When asked why Ekblad wasn’t being treated at the hospital in Beit Hanoun, Israeli activist Neta Golan who has been in touch with the foreign activist said due to the ongoing fire most were taking cover in the building’s corridors, including doctors, taking advantage of what little protection the hallways provided. Golan said the Swedish Embassy and the International Committee for the Red Cross had been notified, yet were not able to secure a medical transport for the young Swede.

Below I’m posting the end of my conversation with Ekblad, before he abruptly ended the call. For the few moments we did speak, I could hear shelling in the background every few seconds, which Ekblad had said was striking the building next to the hospital:

I was standing watching TV, my friends were on the news holding a press conference and a shell form the tank hit the building and broke the glass from the window. the glass shattered from the window and I got it on my head, not only glass but concrete. Fuck, that was a direct hit on the hospital. That was a direct hit. I have to go now.

The Israeli Flag is stained red with the blood of its victims.

Israel does not speak or act for Jews. it just tries to exploit them as a cover for the shit it does.

The only Star of David with an image problem is the one on Israel's flag.

Israel is turning it from a symbol of a people into something unsavory. I would say the same thing about the U.S. Flag, and probably did during Bush's Operation enduring clusterfu*k.

This OP originally was talking about the "Magen Dovid " ( symbol of the Jewish people worldwide ) being stained with blood and then Scotaloo jumped in and the commentary in the OP was changed to "Israeli Flag".

I never used the term "Jews", dave, but there is always a second tier spin doctor that will try and tie that word to any criticism of Israel to paint others as anti-Semites.

It's is far easier for such dubious people to accuse others of bigotry than actually admit that the country that flies the star of David as its flag is killing civilians...children...innocents.

Such symbols of nations in the past were perverted towards an evil: changing their meaning forever. I would hope that the star of David never becomes synonymous with the wholesale murder of children.

5. Actions speak louder than words

If the Israeli government and Israeli leadership want peace, shelling hospitals is not the way to achieve it.

I don't blame all of Israel any more than I blamed my own nation when Bush lied us into a war where the US slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. I blame the people that defended him, like I blame those that would buttress Israel with unconditional support while they do outrageous things.
