BOSTON, April 2, 2012 -- /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Americans for Peace and Tolerance/On Campus today released a video documenting Northeastern University faculty members abusing Holocaust Remembrance events for political purposes. Northeastern professors and their invited guest lecturers are seen comparing Israelis to Nazis and denying Jewish peoplehood - on tape recordings and in internal emails. Some making these claims were invited by professors holding the Stotsky Professorship in Jewish Historical and Cultural Studies, established specifically to study the genocide of European Jewry.
The video was posted at: www.hijackingholocaust.com.
"Northeastern is a popular and respected school," said APT President, Charles Jacobs, "but there does exist a problem - mostly confined to a few anti-Israel radicals among the professoriate and the administration. These individuals have used a chair donated for the purpose of teaching students about the genocide of European Jews to demonize and delegitimize the state of Israel and its supporters."
Jacobs said, "It is extraordinarily unscholarly, insensitive and hurtful for university professors to invite speakers who tell Jewish students in front of their classmates that Jews today act like Nazis. It is outrageous that somebody who denies Jews the right to self-determination and compares the Jewish state to Nazis is responsible for commemorating the Jewish genocide."
"It is also very troubling," he said, "that some Jewish faculty members are too intimidated to speak publicly about these issues, and that some Universities use 'academic freedom' to shield bigoted professors who defame the Jewish community."

I expect more originality from esteemed academics. Their rabid anti-Israel fans should expect better.

(30,109 posts)The keynote address was delivered by Issa Qaraqe, the Minister for Prisoners Affairs of the Palestinian Authority. He blithely asserted that there was a call at the highest level of the Israeli state for concentration camps to be set up for the rounding up and extermination of Palestinian people. To ensure his message was widely available the U.N. posted on their website his speech claiming that the Chief Rabbi of Israel has called for the establishment of extermination camps for Palestinians, that Israelis advocate prisoners should be gassed and exterminated, and that Israel is waging a war of ethnic cleansing against all humanity. As to why there are any Palestinian prisoners, the prisoners only crime is to struggle for freedom and independence, said Qaraqe.
John Dugard, who served as U.N. Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory from 2001 to 2008, openly embraced the destruction of the Jewish state by force, using the one-state-solution lexicon of Palestine/Israel. He referred to Palestinian resistance fighters as freedom fighters. He railed against Israel for using the term terrorists which he put in quotation marks to describe those who engage in resistance activities as combatants or who take up arms in pursuance of the right of self-determination.
The ambassador of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the U.N. in Geneva, Slimane Chikh, claimed that we see ethnic cleansing. . . . Jewish people have primacy and are being favored in all parts of life, while he fumed about Judaized holy sites.

(30,109 posts)...then you can safely ignore the content of the article, which shows the vileness and depravity of the UN. But you don't believe a respected, reputable instituion like UN is responsible for what its "keynote speaker" said, do you?

(30,109 posts)Whilst the majority of people might find it distinctly worrying that those who inhabit this echo-chamber can apparently see no fault in invoking antisemitic Nazi analogies as legitimate criticism and yet in the next breath declare themselves to be the victims of spurious smear campaigns, it is also worth remembering that they apparently have no criticism of their revered co-activist and local minor celeb who sees nothing wrong in posing with of an existing Nazi party or withwho clearly state their genocidal aspirations.
