Congressional delegation joins thousands at New York pro-Israel rally

Lawmakers voice support for Israel's operation in Gaza before cheering crowd in midtown Manhattan.

The New York Congressional delegation, as well as NYC elected officials, joined Monday afternoon 10,000 New Yorkers gathered at a mass ‘New York Stands with Israel’ rally at the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza in Midtown Manhattan.

The rally was organized by the UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC) and co-sponsored by The New York Board of Rabbis, Conference of Presidents, Orthodox Union, Union for Reform Judaism, The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and the National Council Young Israel.

Senator Chuck Schumer expressed his unequivocal support for the Israeli government’s stance regarding a possible cease-fire, following President Obama’s call for an “immediate and unconditional cease-fire.”

“We cannot have any ceasefire until Israel destroys Hamas’ weapons, tunnels and weapons,” Schumer roared. “No cease-fire as long as Hamas’ weaponry is gone! It’s plain ad simple.”

Rookie Brooklyn Congressman Hakeem Jeffries wowed the crowd by declaring, “Israel has always prevailed and Israel will prevail this time too. Israel today, Israel tomorrow and Israel forever.”

SCHUMER: The Palestinian people still don’t believe in the Jewish state, in a two-state solution. More do than before, but a majority still do not. Their fundamental view is, the Europeans treated the Jews badly and gave them our land — this is Palestinian thinking [...] They don’t believe in the Torah, in David [...] You have to force them to say Israel is here to stay. The boycott of Gaza to me has another purpose — obviously the first purpose is to prevent Hamas from getting weapons by which they will use to hurt Israel — but the second is actually to show the Palestinians that when there’s some moderation and cooperation, they can have an economic advancement. When there’s total war against Israel, which Hamas wages, they’re going to get nowhere. And to me, since the Palestinians in Gaza elected Hamas, while certainly there should be humanitarian aid and people not starving to death, to strangle them economically until they see that’s not the way to go, makes sense.

I'm trying to imagine what would happen if such comments had been made by any other politician or US figure that were not favoring Israel, actually I do not have to as comments were made about a week or so earlier that while not as detailed were by our M$M deemed far far worse-in fact our M$M did not even notice this

or does he make excuses and justify it citing the Torah?

I'm not sure that Bush was even so dumb as to cite the bible when he was killing Iraqis, but I might be in error there.

it should be noted that the comments I posted were published 6/11/2010 the M$M did not blink nor pay attention to what he said perhaps because they were focused on comments made by someone else from earlier in that week, it was the week we learned that when someone of Arab ethnicity even an American says Palestine they really mean Israel or something, just to compare how the media treats things

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/07/hamas-israel-ted-cruz-kirsten-gillibrand-109457.html

Sens. Ted Cruz and Kirsten Gillibrand united on Monday to push a resolution condemning Hamas in its war against Israel, building on their burgeoning bipartisan alliance.
The resolution from the Texas Republican and New York Democrat strongly criticizes Hamas for using “innocent civilians as human shields,” tags Hamas and other terrorist groups with the blame for thousands of rocket attacks on Israel launched from Gaza and demands that Palestine Liberation Organization chairman Mahmoud Abbas condemn Hamas’s tactics.

This makes for some very strange bedfellows. Gillibrand has been an awesome senator for New York. A very reliable liberal.
