Kerry says Khamenei's anti-Israeli rhetoric 'shocking, unacceptable'

US, Iran end latest nuclear talks with deal in balance; Israel sends letters to P5+1 nations

US State Secretary John Kerry branded as "shocking and unacceptable" Iran's Supreme Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's recent tweets calling for Israel's elimination.

Kerry made the comments in a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the two discussed the latest goings-on in the talks on the Islamic Republic's unsanctioned uranium program, US State Department said.

Khamenei's plan was published Sunday on the leader's Twitter account, in the form of answers to a questionnaire entitled "9 key questions about elimination of Israel."

Charging that the "fake Zionist regime has tried to realize its goals by means of infanticide, homicide, violence and iron fist," Khamenei then goes on to propose a referendum in which "all the original people of Palestine including Muslims, Christians, and Jews wherever they are, whether inside Palestine, in refugee camps in other countries or just anywhere else [would] take part."

Khamenei specified he rejects any compromise, as "from the viewpoint of Israel, peace is simply a trick for more crimes and occupation."

Once the "Zionist entity" is sufficiently weakened, Khamenei believes the idea of a referendum will be seen as palatable by the international community.

Netanyahu on Monday ordered his office to write letters to the foreign ministries of the US, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany, urging them not to reach a deal with Iran over its nuclear program in light of Tehran's recent calls to eliminate Israel.

JERUSALEM (EJP)---Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has again called openly for the destruction of Israel.“This barbaric, wolflike & infanticidal regime of #Israel which spares no crime has no cure but to be annihilated,” he wrote on his official Twitter account. “The only means to confront a barbaric regime like #Israel is arming the Palestinians,” he continued."They demolish homes & farms in #WestBank, humiliate people, cut their water & electricity, kill their children & youth! #FreePalestine," he wrote. The post begins with ‘’Why? Because throughout its existence “the fake Zionist regime has tried to realize its goals by means of infanticide, homicide, violence & iron fist.”
