President Obama enjoys the support of three-fifths of American Jews, according to the latest American Jewish Committee survey, a significant improvement over where he stood half a year ago in the organizations polling.
The poll, released Monday, shows Obama with 61 percent of the Jewish vote, as opposed to 28 percent for Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who is the likely Republican nominee.
Thats an improvement for the president over a previous AJC survey in September, when Obama scored 50 percent and Romney 32 percent.

(2,927 posts)... from the four-fifths that Obama enjoyed in 2008 (according to exit polls).
According to the article, this is only a slight rise from an all-time low last September. If he can only garner 61% support from members of the very liberal AJC, it doesn't bode well as in indicator of support from the Jewish community at large.
Historically, American Jews have overwhelmingly supported Democrats, but they also support the State of Israel and it seems those two groups have divergent goals.
