Vice President Biden Endorses Same-Sex Marriage

Vice President Biden Endorses Same-Sex Marriage

Vice President Joe Biden became the highest-ranking U.S. official to endorse same-sex marriage this morning.

In a wide-ranging interview on “Meet the Press,” Biden said he has no problem with gays and lesbians having marriage rights.

“The president sets the policy. I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women and heterosexual men and women marrying one another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties,” Biden said, according to Reuters.

Biden did not say whether the White House would take concrete steps to help legalize gay marriage if President Obama wins a second term.

If it's the Tweet from Axelrod:

Personally, I don't see how what Axelrod tweeted is contrary what Biden said.

It's really rude.

If I were VP Biden, I would smack Axelrod down like this:

"Look, David, I am not a child. I am the Vice President of the United States. I meant what I said, and I don't need you to explain to others what my words mean. So just apologize, retract your statement, and then STFU any time you have the inclination to believe that you know my intentions better than I do".

I figure this is a trial balloon, the rest of the Administration can always play the "this is just another goofy thing the Joe Biden says," card if they don't like how it looks in polling.

The Clintons have already weighed in, here they have Joe go out there on a Sunday morning, and sit back and wait a week and see how much consternation it causes.
