An invitation to our GLBT friends in North Carolina!

Move up here to Maine. After this November, there will be marriage equality up here. All of the polling indicates that we will approve human rights for all this year. We can NEVER have too many good people.

The TEMPERATURES of our state may be a bit colder, but the CLIMATE of our state will certainly be much more welcoming and accepting.

PEACE!

As I've mentioned in previous posts, my wife;s best friend has been with the same woman for almost 13 years. We not only WOULD, but HAVE had our son stay with them many times. The 4 adults frequently kid (with nothing but respect and affection) that the partner is my son's "favorite uncle" as she's always taking him fishing or out on a boat and other such things. They hav a close bond that is very touching to see.

When my son, who is 12, found out that GLBT people weren't allowed to marry in Maine (yet), he was as royally PISSED as my wife and I are.

We wouldn't trust our son with a friggin' bible thumping bigot fundie for a damned nanasecond.

PEACE!

If Maine had a healthcare system comparable to what my beloved has at Duke -- AND he could get into it -- we'd certainly think about it.

We are however weighing every option.

...it took 4 years to plan. We sure know that it takes quite a bit og time and planning to effect a long didtance move.

I believe that mine wouldn't be the only family that believes as ours does.

The biggest difference aside from the availability of healthcare I find is that down here we have something we call "winter" (which really isn't much). In Maine, "winteh" is an entirely different creature.

Which reminds me of a funny story, just to lighten the mood. I had a next-door neighbor in Florida who was a Maine-ah through and through. When he still lived in Maine he had a surveyor come out to find the property lines. As it turned out, a couple of acres were actually in New Hampshire. Ol' Pete said, "wondaful! I'm movin' my house to tha otha end of the propaty." Perplexed, the surveyor asked why. Pete said, "because I'm tiahed of these God. Damn. Maine wintehs!"

While we're STILL to the left of Wisconsin politically.... it's not because our Republicans are any better. It's because we had Gov. Dayton vs. Gov. Walker. Had it not been for Mark Dayton, MN would be in the same predicament as WI, without a recall system.

It's on the ballot this November and the polls look VERY promising!

Of course, the best result would be a 50 way tie for first!

1 good thing is that a majority of people voting in the election must vote yes in order to pass, so not voting on it counts as a no vote.

Thousands of people in Mass are now married to a partner of the same gender. No Earthquakes, no black holes, just a couple of tornadoes in the last 7 years. (Not caused by gay folks marrying).

We don't have any problems with gay folks getting married, yes married and living and adopting and being foster parents, and going to hospitals and dying and getting survivor rights, etc.

We have nice pretty places, beaches, mountains, parks, cities, towns, as does Maine, and Maine is less than an hour from Boston. Come visit, get married here, stay here.

Are you tryin' to hijack my bandwagon?

I do have to concede that Mass HAS Gay Marriage while Maine WILL HAVE Gay Marriage.

People can also live in Maine and visit Mass. BOTH sound pretty good to me.

PEACE!
