(130,156 posts)I understand. My Dad passed at 4:30 a.m. April 29. Won't ever get over losing him, so not thinking of it as losing him. He has always been, and will always be, with me.

(62,683 posts)And I was numb when my parents died -- both expected -- too. I think it's our psyche's way of helping us ease into the enormity of accepting our beloved parent is gone. It's a process. Take care of yourself.

(83 posts)I am so sorry for your loss. My father died (also suddenly) seven months ago today. Keep him in your heart, honor him by your actions to others and remember all that was good about him. Time will not heal your wound, but it will give you the tools manage the pain. My dad was one of my best friends, I think about him everyday.

That's what puts loss into perspective for me.

(203,039 posts)I lost my mother six months ago and it still shocks me everytime it hits me. Whether it was expected, or not, this is so hard to accept. Your Dad has always been there. Stick close to family who are feeling the same way right now. Remembering the good times helps, I've found, and also remembering that you were there, which will mean so much to everyone, especially to yourself. Be good to yourself and remember that your DU family is here and that we care...
