WASHINGTON Vice President Joe Biden is praising Jewish leaders for helping change American attitudes about gay marriage and other issues.
Biden says culture and arts change people's attitudes. He cites social media and the old NBC TV series "Will and Grace" as examples of what helped changed attitudes on gay marriage.
Biden says, quote, "Think behind of all that, I bet you 85 percent of those changes, whether it's in Hollywood or social media, are a consequence of Jewish leaders in the industry."

(23,369 posts)I'm not saying the Jewish people don't deserve credit, but I can see anti-Semites grasping onto this quote.

(53,944 posts)Jews have certainly played a part in this, but the way it was stated would certainly be fodder for the anti-Semites.

(55,144 posts)The majority of people that have a problem with the Jewish community also have a problem with the LGBT community. hey would want to see us all dead in both communities.

(2,888 posts)I cringed when i read the bit about "Will & Grace" being an example of culture and arts that changed his mind. but hey, if it works and changes people's minds, then i'll just grin and bear it

(2,888 posts)despite his occasional break out of "foot in mouth" disease, I still love the man. After all, he had the courage to publicly speak in favor of gay marriage even before the POTUS, arguably forcing the latter's hand to grow a pair on the subject.

(758 posts)but as I though on it, the same people who hate me because I'm gay probably hate me because I'm Jewish. How much difference will it make, really?
