NJ Senate Judiciary committee will debate marriage equality bill next Tuesday.

(cross-posted in GD)

Posted late today, the NJ Senate Judiciary committee lists the Marriage Equality and Religious Exemption Act (S1) as the only bill to be heard next Tuesday, January 24th, at 11:00 am.

In 2009, after over 10 hours of testimony and debate, the Judiciary committee voted 7-6 to move the bill out of committee and to the Senate for a full vote. 2 Democrats voted against it and 1 Republican voted for the bill. Once the bill was heard in the Senate it was defeated 20-14 and the Assembly never got an opportunity to hear the bill.
