and sad.

It was 15 years ago and I remember the story like I read it an hour ago. I had no connection to the people, area, events, or anything else, but my heart went out the the poor young man.

With just as much religious fanaticism and just as much "heart." Just a whole lotta ugly - both physical and moral.

Of people who need religion so much - like take Phil - without religion, he was a total shithead to his family. Now he's a shithead to people who don't share his beliefs or behave in ways he disapproves of.

Sorry, but a lot of us don't need the threat of everlasting damnation to not be shitheads.

I have often wondered, 'why did it take the thought of roasting in one's own juices to make decent people out of the so-called Christians?'...and they're STILL not tolerant and selfless and non-judgmental, like the guy they are supposed to worship was portrayed as being.

After being lied to by some scum bag for a couple of days and finally tracking him down and serving him a warrant for doing many terrible things, some breaking the law and some terrible things against his own family they gather for a prayer.

It has already been established that the fellow has gone through the cycle, including prayer, many times and as they walk out of the detention facility Dog looks at the camera and states "I hope he turns his life around but we all know that he won't".

The irony of it all is sublime and is generally missed by the audience, that the threat of everlasting damnation is having almost no effect whatsoever.

Mr. Robertson didn't make any nice comments about African Americans either... especially when referring to the "Jim Crow" era.

I don't know what to think anyway. Celebrity hype? Ignorance? Do these remarks make him a homophobic racist? I know what I know is right ... I know he just didn't choose his words wisely.
