You just can't make this stuff up!

GOP candidate was once a female impersonator

Steve Wiles, a Republican state Senate candidate who supports North Carolina’s constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage, once worked as a female impersonator at a gay nightclub in Winston-Salem and was gay at the time, according to a co-owner of the nightclub and a former employee.

Wiles, 34, was in his early 20s when he worked at the now-defunct nightclub, Club Odyssey, according to co-owner Randy Duggins and former employee Gray Tomlinson.

“He is Mona Sinclair,” Duggins said, referring to Wiles’ female persona.

It makes people behave in the most unbecoming ways, including joining the republican party. I kind of pity the guy.

It's when they take their self-loathing out on other LGBTIs that I lose all sympathy. Same reason I despise Log Cabin republicans, although that's a bit more complicated.

Some of the worst damage to this country has come from self loathing closeted gay men like Roy Cohn, who think they can kill what they see as weak and feminine in themselves by oppressing and punishing it in others. Homophobia is inextricably tied to misogyny.

Until then, I have no shits to give about any torment he's going through. I just want him gone and into a civilian job where he can do far less damage.
