Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: This kind of posts invites debate and argument, and it is better to argue than it is to censor, in my opinion.

(108,903 posts)lgbtiq are all races -- the post would have been deleted -- maybe the poster banned and many more would have called the poster out.
so i don't just disagree -- i hold you and the person who agreed with you in this thread in that 'soft' homophobic camp that is allowed so much free reign here.

Self Deleting.

(108,903 posts)i'll put it up to ignorance that you {and the jury} don't know what homophobia is when you see it.

(13,305 posts)Self Delete. I came to this thread through the front page Latest section. Did not notice the forum.

(55,145 posts)I hope you understand that I do not mean this in any way to be rude. It's just some subject matters are best discussed amongst ourselves.
Thats why when this thread was alerted on as a SOP violation the LGBT Hosts did not see it as a violation
Have a fabulous day!

(13,305 posts)I go to everything through the "Latest Threads" front page. So I legitimately and honestly do not notice or look at the forum.
You are right. Thank you for being civil about it.

(108,903 posts)With more speech.
Obvious.
That being said the rules regarding lgbtiq bigotry are not evenly applied.
We should not have to defend our selves from something that obvious.
Or even the soft bigotry I think you present under the guise of 'censorship'.
That card has been played plenty on du to excuse homophobia for a long time.

(13,305 posts)As someone pointed out a post or two up, this is not the forum for me to be having this discussion. I go to every thread/post from the main "Latest" page and, I saw that the original thread in question was in GD, and did not notice until they pointed it out that this discussion of that was not.
I am deleting my earlier posts in this thread, as given the forum this is in, I should not have been arguing or making the points I was making.
Again, my deepest and most sincere apologies for getting involved in this thread in this forum.

AND the argument was civil, just what DU is for, isn't it?
Patrick_Bateman
(47 posts)As long as discussion is civil, I am all for it. If we were all to agree on everything all the time, it would be quite dull. Besides, there are some good debators here on DU, and it is good for them to hone their skills.

(55,145 posts)If you feel it is a violation of TOS, did you check TOS also? ANd if not, you can still alert again and check TOS (even though it won't go to a jury again, the TOS check will send it to the Admins).

(895 posts)I alerted one post (I forget which) and made sure to click TOS and minutes later got a jury result from it.

(55,145 posts)But it will make them aware of the post/thread in question and as I have seen in the past follow through if they deem it necessary.

(12,157 posts)It amazes me how various groups who have suffered at the hands of the GPTB (generic powers that be) get their knickers in a knot about their rights struggle being conflated with another group. Any comparisons to the Holocaust is forbidden. On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s day a Latino co-worker went on a rant about how King didn't do anything for him and his days were Diez y Seis de Septiembre and Cinco de Mayo. Now this is someone who does not understand King and his dream.
The closest MLKs dream to come true is the Democratic party. The problem is that we get caught up in faction fights, clan warfare and feuds. This makes the real enemy happy. It is just like the British were pleased to support and fund the various groups in Ireland so that they would waste their energy on each other and the blood shed would be Irish and not British.
We are like a family here at DU and when we don't have an external enemy we turn on each other. While we do have a common enemy for some reason some of us are wasting our energy on each other. And BTW my group is more attacked than yours- whatever it is.

(52,155 posts)and I don't think it violates the terms of this forum. That said, I can see the case for leaving the posts alone and I can see the case for getting rid of the posts. It is, for me, a close call.

At Sun Jan 29, 2012, 01:28 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
Compare gay men to other "oppressed" groups. Not to the most pre-emminent group ...

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:
OTT, inappropriate for this Group.
JURY RESULTS
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sun Jan 29, 2012, 01:35 PM, and the Jury voted 4-2 to HIDE IT.
Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: Perhaps a better fit in the Rand Paul group.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT and said: This is a disgusting post, one of the most ignorant things I've ever read here.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: I don't understand the alerter's comment. If this post is inappropriate, then the entire thread is inappropriate. The thread is in General Discussion, which is not a "Group", it's a Forum. There's nothing wrong with the thread and there's nothing wrong with the post. It's an opinion with which others may disagree or agree as suits them. I have no idea why this was alerted.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: The post makes a a highly inappropriate argument. Homosexuals have long been discriminated against, turning this into some sort of pissing contest is wrong. This argument is a disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, and over-the-top argument. -ellisonz
