of being an Oregonian for 33 years in a progressive place regarded by many as the "American Oasis". Congrats to all the gays in Oregon. It was about time.

Live long and prosper? I'll sure as hell vote for that. But I really, really wish the process were quicker and the end game more definite.

It won't be much longer. You can only pull out so many cards before the whole anti-gay house of cards falls. Just a year or two ago I would have estimated it in decades before we saw full equality in the US. Sitting where we do today, I number it in years, perhaps as few as two or three before we have full legal recognition. If we can elect a Democratic majority in 2016, I think we'll have enough to push beyond the issue once and for all.
