Canadian federal Government makes an apology to LGBT civil servants
who were victims of a witch hunt during the cold war. The government bought many 'fruit machines' that measured pupil dilation to rid anyone not straight. My mom told me that my grandmother, her mother-in-law, and her friends use to go up to senior public servants at cocktail parties in Ottawa at the time try to embarrass them into changing the policy. Such was the power of women in the late 50s. Not to mention the power of the lgtb community. So sorry to all who suffered.
