Pastor tells Democrats to reject Pete Buttigieg because 'it is not the time' for a gay President

A megachurch pastor has urged Democrats to oppose Pete Buttigieg in the Presidential primary because he is gay.

Bishop Paul S. Morton, who preaches at Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, made the plea on Twitter.

Its a sad statement on America, (but not really in that we are actually talking about this now as a realistic possibility. That in itself is a we've come a long way baby moment in itself) But this election is not the election to try an experiment to find out if it is too early or not. The consequences are too extreme if it fails. Pete is the best candidate by far in our lifetimes (besides Hillary) as to qualifications and competence, but........ UUhhgggggg, this is not the election to gamble with. But (yes, there is another but!!) the pendulum is changing and is changing in our direction!!!!! The next generation is the progressive generation!!!!!!!!

However, the story here is this church (and others) should lose their tax exempt status!!

it was never time for a woman to be president - until a woman won (OH YES SHE DID)

no one ever asked if it was time for a FASCIST BUFFOON to be "president" but HERE WE ARE

His only experience hadn't been limited to being a mayor of a city of about a hundred thousand.

I don't care about Buttigieg's sexuality. It's his extremely young age and lack of experience that concerns me. A 37 year old Mayor who studied at Oxford.

How about a 45 year old gay Senator who went to Oxford? Why is Buttigieg in such a hurry? Why didn't he try statewide office? Why didn't he run for Governor, or Senator, or at least a Congressional seat, before aiming for the Presidency?

about 100,000, with no experience in statewide or national office.

Bill Clinton was a Rhodes scholar, just like Buttigieg. Obama is brilliant. Many other Dems are as smart as Buttigieg. But book learning only takes you so far. For the record, Republicans David Vitter and Bobby Jindal were also Rhodes scholars.

If he is telling church members who to vote for (or not vote for), then that church should lose its tax exempt status.

As a Christian, I am always appalled when these hate mongers claim to speak for me. And since I am always skeptical of megachurches, strip it if its tax shelter status for this minister and let him pay taxes on the car, house, etc. that the church is paying for instead of looking after the least of these as Jesus commanded.

We have two rules as Christians: love God and love your neighbor, everything else is above our paygrade. Stick to preaching and living that megachurches and stay out of politics, because going into politics will cause the skimming off the top done by your preacher to be taxed.
