‘Proud, butch lesbian’ aims to make U.S. Olympic women’s boxing team



Patricia Manuel of Long Beach, Calif., is competing this week in the first Olympic boxing trials for women. The 2012 Games in London will feature women boxers in three weight classes. Manuel (49-14) competes in the lightweight division (132 pounds).

because that would be the best sign of acceptance to look exactly the way she chooses. The more that we can accept people who don't conform to our norms for men or women, the less people will feel the NEED to conform rather than be themselves.

however if there is discussion of her butchness in a positive way. very few butch kids have role models on TV. so i suppose i am ok with people discussing her butchness and what it means to her and how it affects her life.
