Group protests Hobby Lobby ruling in Des Moines

Protesters handed out fliers and condoms outside Hobby Lobby on Merle Hay Road in Des Moines on Saturday, in opposition of the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling regarding insurance coverage for some contraceptives.

"There's a lot of misconception about contraceptives in this case and Hobby Lobby's role in it," said Tony Tyler, 32, of Des Moines. "I want to make a conversation to help educate our peers."

The Supreme Court ruled that companies cannot be forced to offer insurance coverage for certain birth control methods they equate with abortion because of religious freedom. Hobby Lobby was at the forefront of the case.

Tyler, the organizer of the protest, created a Facebook event in response to the Supreme Court ruling....

Most of the protests I'm posting about right now happened on Friday and Saturday. The one in Des Moines was on Saturday.

We all know that these corporations will be carving out exceptions left and right to avoid paying for women's health care. This is partly out of their own religious beliefs they want to force down our throats and partly because they are greedy and just don't want to pay for it. Handing out the condoms outside their doors is a good idea. Shows that we oppose their policies and believe in safe sex.
