So boycotts don't work, huh? I would say this is proof that they do. To hell with Eden Foods and the woman-hating chariot they rode in on. Never again!

Eden Foods To Grocers: Stick With Us Despite Birth Control 'Attack'
In the weeks since Eden Foods first hit headlines in the wake of the Supreme Courts Hobby Lobby decision, the natural foods company has faced unprecedented scrutiny.
Like craft chain Hobby Lobby, Eden Foods sued the Department of Health and Human Services in a bid to reverse what its devoutly Catholic founder calls unconstitutional government overreach.
Michael Potter, who started the Michigan-based former co-op in the 1960s, doesnt believe he should have to cover certain types of birth control as part of his companys health insurance plan as required by the Affordable Care Act...
...Now, Eden Foods is imploring smaller organic, natural and health food stores some of which supported the brand well before Whole Foods existed to stick with the company despite a coordinated attack.....

(113,274 posts)ERA, how I could keep all the companies we were boycotting in mind as I shopped. Said the same thing then I am saying now--I care where my money goes, and what it supports. it's easy when you care.

(19,964 posts)...and if we're successful with the boycott, perhaps some of these other woman-hating businesses will think twice.

(excerpts)
Just went thru my cupboard and pulled out 4 Eden products, Jackie Ellison, a woman in Atlanta, wrote in a comment on Eden's Facebook page. My last four until you allow women their due health coverage....
...We were convinced that actions of the federal government were illegal, and so filed a formal objection, Eden said in a statement earlier this month. The recent Supreme Court decision confirms, at least in part, that we were correct.
But the move has also fueled shoppers' backlash.
At least two online petitions and a Facebook page are urging customers to stop buying Edens foods.... MORE at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/18/eden-birth-control_n_5599778.html

Wouldn't having a significant portion of your income taken from you, with no end in sight, get your attention?
Deal with it, Eden.

(15,082 posts)I have a connection to the buyers for two of our local stores. I have emailed them and asked them to remove Eden Foods from their shelves. I'll update when I hear from them. I don't buy the stuff myself, and haven't since I learned of the company's evangelical leanings. I'm a local gluten free baker, but I figure if I have a relationship with a buyer, I'm going to use it.

(129 posts)I have cans of Eden Foods in my cabinet right now. I'm not going to ask the store to take them back, but I will buy nothing more from Eden Foods ever.
I had never heard of Hobby Lobby before this, but they sure as hell will never get anything from me.
I don't care what your beliefs are, you don't have the right to force your beliefs on another person. Companies like Eden are being asked to provide insurance, not the birth control. It should be the employees right to use, or not use birth control.
This is a topic that really I get very pissed about.

(24,411 posts)First off, the people at Eden Foods are complete idiots.
Do they not realize that a high percentage of their organic-eating clientele are Progressives? A high number of vegans, vegetarians and people who care about organic food--are Democrats and lefties.
Hell, right-wing-nut radio talks smack about organic foods, claiming that it is not more healthy for you. The right loves to make fun of granola-eating liberals.
Sure, people of all political strips eat organic--but a large contingent is Progressives!
Now, you've pissed off that sector. Big time. Plus, you've pissed all women who don't want their employer dictating what kind of birth control and healthcare they can receive.
The people who run this company must be total idiots. Their sales will plummet because of this.
Let this be a lesson to any company that tries to foist hard-right nut jobbery on America! You guys will lose because radical-right nonsense is not mainstream, contrary to what the liars and charlatans at Fox News say.
I will enjoy watching their numbers swirl downward.
