http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/02/14/425220/women-vets-criticize-liz-trotta/?mobile=ncReferring to a recent report that violent sex crimes within the military have increased over the last 6 years, Trotta said women service members should expect sexual assault and complained about levels of bureaucracy that support women who have been raped too much.
To which I say, what is wrong with Liz Trotta?

Did anyone else? Am I just clueless?
This is so sad... I can't help thinking that it's because male victims do not feel comfortable coming forward about these abuses.

(115,103 posts)I have seen many articles addressing the issue of sexual assaults against women in the military. I have seen exactly zero about sexual assaults against men in the military.

(29,098 posts)We don't have anywhere near accurate statistics on this as many, many male victims just don't come forward. The shame and self blame is so strong that they just can't speak about it.

The Military's Secret Shame
When men in the military rape other men in the ranks, no one wants to talk about it. Why the sexual assault of males in the service is finally being confronted.

(19,288 posts)When are the victims going to stop being blamed? I hate to see this type of thinking perpetuated to Faux's hundreds of ignorant old viewers. Propaganda wing of the right's spin machine.

(29,098 posts)I admit that often I question John's thinking about women he hit this one out of the park.
n Tuesday, Daily Show host Jon Stewart seemed positively horrortained by both Rick Santorum and Fox News contributor Liz Trottas reaction to news that the Pentagon is allowing women in the military to participate in front-line combat.
Santorum, as regular readers are likely aware, has qualms about women participating in front-line combat because he fears that men will feel emotionally compelled to protect their female colleagues, even at the risk of the mission at hand.
And then, well. And then theres Liz Trotta.

(41,832 posts)because I never watch Fox. I knew I heard that name before though. Found this:
She began her career in 1965, covering the Vietnam War as a correspondent for NBC News and later working for CBS News.
So that is why I recognize her name. Incidentally, her latest remarks are all over google.
