Tell Democrats to Hold the line for human trafficking survivors
It’s anti-abortion politics at its worst.
Senate Republicans are grandstanding for their anti-woman base by forcing anti-abortion provisions into a bipartisan bill to help human trafficking survivors.
Democrats in the Senate have been standing strong. They are demanding a clean, uncompromised version of the bill and have blocked all Republican attempts to jam it through.
Now Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is holding up important Senate business to pressure Democrats to accept a bad compromise or back down completely.
In January, when CREDO activists joined with our friends at NARAL Pro-Choice America and pro-choice advocates in Congress to stand against a federal abortion ban, Republicans in the House caved to the pressure and cancelled their scheduled vote. And last month, Senate Democrats won when they stood strong against Republicans who were holding Homeland Security funding hostage in an attempt to gut President Obama’s executive order on immigration.
If Senate Democrats hold the line, we can force Republicans to blink again.
