Walmart Pharmacist Refuses To Fill Prescription For Miscarriage Patient Citing ‘Conscience Clause’

Walmart Pharmacist Refuses To Fill Prescription For Miscarriage Patient Citing ‘Conscience Clause’ - Addicting Info

A woman who had just tragically suffered a miscarriage was unable to get the medically necessary drugs her doctor ordered for her because the pharmacist at her local Walmart refused to fill it.

About five weeks into her pregnancy, Brittany Cartrett was told by her doctor that the child hadn’t made it. To avoid serious health consequences that may come with a miscarriage, she was given two options: an invasive “dilation and curettage” procedure which would surgically remove the contents of the uterus, or a pill that would have the same effect but would be less invasive. She opted for the second option.

Unfortunately, getting the medicine in order to treat herself proved difficult because of a Walmart pharmacist’s refusal to help her. Cartrett recounted her infuriating incident with Georgia news station WGXA (emphasis added):

deciding for themselves what medical treatments we may, or may not, get, based on their conscience. time for a new profession, folks.

.... GET IN ANOTHER LINE OF WORK, ASSHOLE.

These "conscience clauses" are nothing more than absolute selfishness and state-sanctioned discrimination.

If they can't do the job, quit or the company should fire them, but this shit needs to stop. Tired of women being put in these positions, having their rights infringed upon because too many assholes think women's bodies are public fucking property.

She was totally devastated by each miscarriage. Thankfully, she didn't run into problems with a pharmacist.
I feel infuriated that this poor woman had to face this judgemental insanity at a time that was already fraught
with such anxiety and emotional pain.
The pharmacist's job is only to fill the prescriptions....THEY ARE NOT DOCTORS!
They totally failed this patient!
SHAME ON THEM AND SHAME ON WALMART!
What is next? Pain meds? Cancer drugs?
This is another reason why I will shop anywhere else before going to Walmart.

I just can't help but wonder how such a pharmacist could work for a company that sells this "evil" drug. I mean if her belief is so sincere then I just can't imagine how she could have anything to do with a company that profits from its sale! When will this righteous pharmacist quit her job to send a message to Walmart?

I'm not going to hold my breath. Her belief doesn't sound very sincere to me.
