In Wisconsin, a mother is searching for answers after her 12 year old daughter was found dead, just hours after having received the human papillomavirus vaccination.

Rebecca Prohaska took her daughter, Meredith, to the doctor for a sore throat on the morning of July 30th. During the visit, Meredith was given the HPV vaccine that is meant to protect girls from the sexually transmitted disease that is believed to be linked with cervical cancer.
After receiving the shot, Meredith and Rebecca returned home, and Rebecca reports that Meredith had expressed feeling sleepy on the way back, and she napped for the majority of the afternoon. When Rebecca checked in on her daughter later that afternoon, she found her on the floor with no pulse and purple lips. Rebecca, a National Guard EMT, performed CPR, to no avail, and called 911 immediately. Meredith was pronounced dead at the hospital.

1. A vaccine when she was sick?

I have always heard that you should not get vaccine for anything if you are sick. Has anyone else heard this?

I'm not an anti-vaccine person, I just think that there is a right time for a vaccine and good reason to delay a vaccine.

If her death is indeed related to the vaccine, it probably has more to do with an allergic reaction than anything else.

3. Did the doctor treat the sore throat? After all, that was the original reason to see the doctor

No pulse and purple lips tells me that she had trouble breathing.

Could she have had an allergic reaction to something, and the initial symptom was a sore throat, but wound up with a complete closing of her airways?

There are some who have always hated this vaccine because they think women should suffer risks for engaging in premarital sex. And sadly, this happens across the political spectrum. My daughter and my son both received all three doses of the HPV vaccine and I am thankful every day it was available to them.
