Blepharitis

I have been diagnosed with blepharitis keratoconjunctivitis and am now taking Tobramycin-dexameth drops and putting hot wet compresses on my eyes 3-4 times a day.

My eye doc says I should feel better by the 3rd day of my 7 day medication. I am currently on the 2nd day.

Weird. She says it is more common in older people (that's me!). My eyes don't look all that bad. They just itch a lot.The photos of people's eyes with this thing that I saw on Google scared me. The doc was pretty casual about it, professional but not looking like it was a difficult thing to treat.

Anybody else had this condition?

1. No, but I've had eye infections resistant to gentamycin and I've taken tobramycin drops

I liked the tobramycin drops the best of any eye antibiotics I've ever had to drop into my eyes, they always felt very soothing to me. You can try warm soaks on the eyelid with your eye closed, just discard the paper towels or put the washcloth in the hamper as soon as you are done and wash your hands.

Warm soaks also help you dissolve any crud gluing your eyelashes together, you don't want to reinfect yourself once the antibiotics take hold and you don't want to infect anyone else, so be careful with anything you use for the warm soaks.

It's not difficult to treat as long as the bugs are susceptible to tobramycin. If you're no better on tomorrow morning, call him.

Dr. Google always shows the most grotesque cases. It's why it's always such a mistake to consult him.

My doc said as folks get older their eyes normal washing out system for the eyes can malfunction so I guess that the germs I got are normal but my eyes' ability to cleanse them has somewhat broken down...

I can't offer you any advice, but I just wanted to say that I hope you get better soon.
