Yesterday I got the second Shingrix vaccine. Yes, the upper arm is a bit sore but it will improve.
As I went to bed, all of a sudden I was shivering uncontrollably. I thought that it would pass but did not. And while the torso was shivering, my feet were really cold. So I got up, amazingly found my fleece socks in the middle of the socks drawer, also put a fleece sweatshirt on top of my pajama, and tucked the covers all around me. I sleep on my side, so even covered the tip of my nose which was cold.
Early morning I woke up too hot and removed the socks and the sweatshirt but am wondering about it. No, was not feverish. But it was a bit disheartening.

Thanks for letting us know what to expect.
Maybe I don't really want it.

(47,472 posts)Had several attacks after that, had multiple by pass at 75 and before that was told that all the arteries are blocked, one could never tell what would happen.
He lived to be 90 but the last two years of his life were miserable. He had shingles, on the lower back and was in pain. If I can prevent this, I will.
And, btw, about 7 years ago I had the other vaccine Zostavax, but when I heard that it is not that effective, that even if one was vaccinated one should get the Shingrix, I knew I would get it. Oh, my insurnace did cover most of it.
So, think about it. Consult, of course, with your provider.

(43,049 posts)You should not receive SHINGRIX if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or had an allergic reaction to a previous dose of SHINGRIX
The most common side effects are pain, redness, and swelling at the injection site, muscle pain, tiredness, headache, shivering, fever, and upset stomach
SHINGRIX was not studied in pregnant or nursing women. Tell your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding
Vaccination with SHINGRIX may not protect all individuals
Ask your healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of SHINGRIX. Only a healthcare provider can decide if SHINGRIX is right for you

(16,377 posts)I was achy and feverish-feeling for three days. Not worth it. Not only that, my arm hurt terribly for almost a week. I usually do fine with all immunizations. I also got the pneumonia vaccine on the same day, different arm, so I'm not sure which one made me feel so terrible. I've had the pneumonia one before though, with no side-effects or soreness, so I'm pretty sure it was the Shingrix.
question everything
(47,472 posts)As a matter of fact, on the questionnaire I was asked whether I've had any other vaccination within the past four weeks.
As it happened, it was exactly four weeks ago that I had the flu vaccine and the nurse said it was OK. Especially since I've already had the first booster.
