I had read about the cardiac implications of the virus somewhere on this site and prepared for a 3 month isolation.

It could very possibly kill my husband.

DU really needs a dedicated thread for current information and simple precautionary methods that are missing from official sources.

A Covid-19 category so we can share what’s happening nationwide.

Best wishes to you. ✨✨✨

and it's not all that necessary there if you're smart enough to practice good hygiene with frequent hand washing and not touching your face with your fingers, only with the back of your wrist.

If there is any mental compensation these days, it's the knowledge that the Orange Shart has had ice water thrown over his dreams of glory (and own immunity) based on a fabulous, record breaking two month rush to get a vaccine. His body type shrieks "metabolic syndrome" and that means diabetes in addition to cardiovascular disease and those are the two biggest co morbidities leading to death.

I'm old, so I'm somewhat under the gun, myself, although my own numbers are still good with only the tally of birthdays not in my favor. We'll see.

Thanks for posting this. People at DU will be informed. Unfortunately, one thing that has made every wave of disease throughout human history vastly worse is a flood of rumors when actual information has not been forthcoming. It will be exacerbated this time because of Orange Shart's reliance on businessmen and men obsessed with secrecy because he thinks this virus is a personal attack against him and doesn't want anybody to know how bad it is, lest he appear weak.

The world calls my age elderly

The Docs call my heart damaged

My location is close to west coast & close to International flight hub.

Relative lives in large Chinese inclusive student University housing units. Relative very sick, recovering.

There is no available testing at the research hospital my relative works for, or anyone for that matter.

I’ve been running a low grade fever for a couple of weeks so, in consideration of others as well, am self-isolating with lots of nutrients

I’ll err on the side of caution until the US & my community gets their coronavirus tracking act together.

Having had a few bouts of pneumonia as a child is not helpful either.

Or maybe it is. 🤷🏻‍♀️
We are blind in an information vacuum.

and I'm sorry a family member is already ill.

It seems pretty clear we're going to have a wave of it this spring and quite probably a stronger wave of it next tall and winter, if past viral epidemics are any indication. By this time next year, people who haven't gotten it yet might even have a vaccine available.

I just don't like people self isolating over nothing because by the time they might need to quarantine, they will be out of supplies and suffering from cabin fever.

In your case, avoiding crowds, especially crowded mass transit, good handwashing, and keeping your fingers away from your face will go a long way toward keeping you safe. Self quarantine won't stop this one, as eventually you'll need to order foodstuffs and bring in mail and this virus persists on surfaces and can be brought to you that way. Good handwishing is paramount.
