OK, so he is promoting drugs used to treat lupus and malaria

But when he is adding an antibiotic, someone has to speak up.

From a story in the WSJ: Mr. Trump advised Americans to consult their doctors before taking hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, an antibacterial drug that some doctors have also prescribed to coronavirus patients. “I’m not a doctor, but I have common sense,” he said.

Antibacterial drugs are not effective against viruses. It has been the over use of antibiotics in the past 40 years, or so, that many bacteria became resistant and new effective drugs are hard to find.

It's not like Trump figured any of this out - he's just spouting info from very small studies done by actual doctors. He's not imparting any wisdom to the medical community that they aren't already sharing amongst themselves.

If it does prove effective, he'll take all the credit - if not, he'll just say, "I'm not a doctor."

advisor for ABC news. Someone asked if getting a pneumonia shot could be effective in preventing the pneumonia that comes with coronavirus. She said no. That shot protects against bacterial pneumonia. The type of pneumonia that comes with the virus is another type, not bacterial.

I just got a pneumonia shot before this all started. So did my husband.
