What dose CoQ10?

I have been getting mine from COSTCO - 100 mg softgels made by trunature.

But could not find them at a recent visit.

Instead there is a bottle of a 200 mg dose made by NatureMade - a well known manufacturer. Also, COSTCO ‘s own brand of 250 mg. And cheaper.

I do not follow the idea that more is necessarily better so I got the 200 mg one.

What dose do people here take?

And by the way, the old bottle, the 100 mg, had 250 softgels. The new one, the 200 mg has only 140 softgels.

I may have to look at Walgreens or CVS.

I think the total daily dose depends on the reason for which you are taking it Raven123 Sep 2021 #1

However, absorption is an issue. My understanding is that it is better to take multiple doses rather than a single dose daily.

Ubiquinol is much better absorbed than ubiquinone, so if you're taking ubiquinol (and you should be!), you won't need as large a dose. Some studies have indicated that ubiquinol is up to 8 times more bioavailable than regular (ubiquione) CoQ10.

Also, is the CoQ10 you're taking in an oil base? CoQ10 taken in an oil base is also said to be more bioavailable than other forms.

Important note: If in an oil base, make sure that it's not in a base of soy/soybean oil! Soy oil has been shown to cause genetic changes in the brain and shouldn't be taken or eaten for any reason.

I realize this doesn't actually answer your question, so let me say this: the more health issues you have, and especially if you're taking a statin drug, the higher the dose of CoQ10 you should take.

I don't really have any health issues, and I take 100 mg per day (Doctor's Best, which I get at either Vitacost or iHerb). Even though I don't have health issues, I'd take the Doctor's Best 100 mg dose twice a day (for 200 mg per day) if I could afford it.

I hope this helps.

edit: clarity

Other ingredients: Soybean oil, gelatin, glycerin, water, Rapseed Lecitin

Yes, I take it because of statin.

Thank you for detailed info. I will look at Doctor’s Best.

Knowing that you take statins, I now really suggest that you switch to a ubiquinol product.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, soybean oil is bad; it causes dysfunction in ~100 different brain genes and really shouldn't be ingested, even in the small amounts in a supplement. One of the reasons I like Doctor's Best is that they use extra virgin olive oil as their carrier oil.
