The nursing home

my mother is in all of a sudden has an outbreak of Covid. So far ten residents and four people who work with the the residents have it. Anybody else seeing this in nursing homes in your communities?
I am so disappointed because they were supposed to get their new Covid booster and flu shots next week. So far my Mom hasn’t gotten it. The nursing home is very good about letting me know if something is going on with her. They will tell me if she has a bruise or a scrape on her. She has such thin skin at her age that contributes to that. It’s been that way for several years, long before going into nursing home.

Early in the pandemic before there was a vaccine

Luckily my mom didn't get it, but we couldn't visit her for a long time.

It sucked because many people died from it.

got Covid in August 2020 and survived. Since then she has had all the Covid shot’s and boosters, except for the new one. Hope she is able to get it next week when they plan to give it to residents (who don’t have Covid).
They had several people die back in 2020 and ‘21 before the shots were available.

and I'm in an independent living facility and haven't seen it here.

There is a really nasty flu going around this year, I was flattened for a week and sick for another month. That might be what's going around. I have no clue how I got it, I haven't been anywhere.

Covid was like an asthma attack amplified and which lasted two weeks. This was definitely the flu.
