Sign Petition to Require Mandatory Reporting of Adverse Drug Reactions
From the petition website:
The FDA should implement a mandatory adverse drug reaction reporting system by physicians and hospitals of all cases of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN)
Less than 1 percent of adverse drug reactions are reported to the FDA.
Over 200 thousand people each year die from adverse drug reactions but the cases are probably higher due to a lack of reporting.
Stevens-Johnson Syndrome does not discriminate and can happen to anyone.
I am a survivor of TEN and know hundreds of other survivors and have read many posts in our forums about those who do not survive this horrible allergic reaction to common medications that burns your skin and mucous al membranes from the inside out.
The drug companies claim this is a very rare disease yet I have spoken to many ER and burn doctors who commonly see cases coming through their hospitals. It is a dirty little secret, just one, of pharma's dark side. Please sign the petition provided in the link to report the true cause of illness and death in sjs cases, as it stands pharma pressures doctors not to report the stem cause but list deaths as caused by sepsis or bronchial failure, etc in order to keep the heat off the many common drugs that can trigger this deadly illness. Let's see the truth in numbers and then decide what actions need to be taken to protect the safety of our nation.
